• Vernon Griffin wins precinct race for commissioner by two votes.

• A Pizza Inn employee was robbed as he made a delivery Saturday evening. The robbery occurred at 9:30 in the 300 block of Mattison Street. Quincy Hawkins, 19, has been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.

• Corey Thompson of Pittsburg has been placed on the University of Arkansas College of Engineering dean’s list for the fall 2005 semester. is recognition is limited to those students who are among the top 10 percent of their class, and completed 12 hours or more during the semester.

• All-District selections have recently been made in girls’ basketball. Ashley Collier, a junior at Pittsburg High School was named Offensive Player of the Year. Ashley Nugent, also a junior, was selected to First Team all-District. Juniors Megan Saleh, and Faytera Doddy were named to second Team All-District. Honorable Mention went to Kendra Hollins, Kiara White, Paris Jones, and Rica Perard. Academic All-District players chosen were Ashley Nugent, and White. Pittsburg Lady Pirates’ coach Julie Lawrence was selected as Coach of the Year, along with Butch Clay of Gladewater, and Amy Teague of Gilmer.
