Saying Camp County stands to collect outstanding monies that otherwise would not be collected, Camp County Commissioners voted Monday to approve the recommendation made by Justice of the Peace Harold Kennington to use a contract service to collect monies on outstanding tickets and failure to appear notices. “With the jail population, we don’t have a way to collect funds that are owed to the county. I think this company will help us collect monies that are owed to us,” Kennington said. “And it will not cost us any money.” Taking the lead on making the motion was Commissioner Steve Hudnall who said, “It sounds like a good deal to me.” e vote was unanimous by commissioners. Omnibase Services of Texas (FTA) provides notices to citizens who fail to appear in court if they have an outstanding ticket in Camp County, denial of renewal of Texas Drivers’ Licenses if the ticket is not paid. Camp County is one of 14 counties in the state not using the program. Commissioners approved OMNIBASE Services of Texas to provide the following services: software for database of violators reported by jurisdictions to the program; automated central database of violators reported by jurisdictions to the program with Texas Department of Public Safety for the FTA program; Mail Letter of notification to violators within 24 hours of TDPS acceptance advising the restriction on drivers license and providing information on contacting the reporting jurisdiction; 800 number and operator assistance for offenders to contact the Interactive Voice Response System (IVR). System is available on a 24-hour a day basis; maintain database on violators for five years after clearance and indefinitely for non-clearances; monthly training for jurisdictions using the software.
