The University Interscholastic League (UIL) has realigned the districts in Texas. Pittsburg has been moved into a new district that will be in effect until 2018. For football 2016-2017, it will be: Conference 4A, Division 2, Region 2, and District 7. The new District 7 will contain Atlanta, Gilmer, Gladewater, (Longview) Spring Hill, Pittsburg, and (Texarkana) Pleasant Grove. Within Region two, there are three other districts: District 5: Aubrey, Bonham, Caddo Mills, Celina, Melissa, and Nevada Community; District 6: Canton, Dallas Lincoln, Dallas Roosevelt, Emory Rains, Ferris, and Wills Point, and District 8: Diboll, Huntington, Jasper, Rusk, and Tatum. The old district members are in Conference 4A, Division 1, Region 2, and District 7, and will contain: Anna, Paris, Paris North Lamar, Princeton, Quinlan-Ford, and Texarkana Liberty-Eylau. The new UIL alignment will allow some renewals of old rivalries, especially against Gladewater and Gilmer. Most of the other schools are within easy driving distance for fans. Pittsburg Athletic Director and Head Coach Brad Baca said, “We are very excited to be in this district. It will very competitive each week and we are ready for the challenge. We have a tough non district schedule that we feel, will get us ready to play at a high level once district starts.”
