Markishe Lashun Smith, 38, of Pittsburg, was arrested on Jan. 23 after shots were fired at a woman in a vehicle. The woman was not hurt; however, her vehicle had been struck with bullets several times. “Prior to Deputy Clay Hefner’s arrival on the scene on County Road 4151 that morning, the dispatcher notified him the suspect was Smith,” Sheriff Alan McCandless said. “The dispatcher was also able to get a vehicle description, and Department of Public Safety Trooper Billy Spears initiated a traffic stop on that vehicle on County Road 4154. The driver was not the suspect, but he was a witness to the offense.” Pittsburg Police Officer Jaime Blackwell made contact with the caller on Highway 11. “When Deputy Hefner arrived at that location, he observed damage on the right rear portion of the vehicle that appeared to be from gunshots,” Sheriff McCandless said. “The front passenger side window was also broken. The female stated that she had been assaulted and thought she may have been grazed by one of the bullets.”
