• Ric Palmer, a PHS graduate in 2003, came home to play in the second annual Pilgrim’s Pride Bowl Classic.
• Melissa Harwell wins the Voice of Democracy scholarship sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars District 12.
• Vatra Solomon speaks to 20th Century Club members.
20 years
• Pittsburg Independent School District board members vote to purchase 30 acres on Pistol Mill Road and Loop 179 to build a new primary school.
• The 49 docents who staff Pittsburg’s two museums are honored. Patsy Newsome receives a plaque for volunteering over 400 hours since the Depot Museum opened in 1991. A plaque for 300 hours is given to Edith Hurt.
30 years
• Pirates are Area Champions. They defeat Wylie Pirates, 42-0.
• Ribbon cutting is held at Town and Country Crossing Center. Businesses in the new center are H.L.M. Foods, Cakes Unlimited, Revco, and Otasco.
• Pirates win Bi-District game 24-18. George Bates is the leading rusher.
• Mr. and Mrs. Rolston Laird celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
