Sawyer

Kenneth Harley Sawyer, 75, of Avinger, died April 24, in Mount Pleasant. Mr. Sawyer was born Aug. 13, 1939 in Longview. No memorial services will be held at this time. His ashes will be buried at a later date with his wife at Macedonia Cemetery in Pittsburg.

He served in the Air Force for seven years and also the Army, in Korea and Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and quilting with his wife. He designed and built her a quilting machine, along with all the patterns they used to quilt.

He is survived by a brother: William Lewis (Bill) Sawyer; sister: Pattie Story McClung; two daughters: Pamela Cheshier Dean and Debbie Sawyer Dale; two stepsons: Jesse and Waylon Johnson, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Mr. Sawyer was preceded in death by his parents: William Harley Sawyer and Evelyn Lucille Wilkinson; wife, Peggy Green Sawyer; daughter, Kitty Sawyer Filkins and her babies; brother-in-law, Joel McClung; grandson, Shon Gage and his nephew, Rodney Sawyer.
