The Lady Pirates went into the playoffs last weekend looking to be named bi-district champions, all that was standing in their way was the Bullard Lady Panthers. Pittsburg wasted no time and disposed of Bullard in two games. The Lady Pirates defeated Bullard, 4-0 in the first game and 2-0 in the second game. The Lady Pirates flexed their offensive muscle in the first game, paired with a dominant performance by pitcher, Bailey Smith. Smith racked up 11 strikeouts and tossed seven innings of shutout ball and allowed only four hits.
Pittsburg got the slugfest started in the bottom of the second inning when Sydney Waldrep doubled to right field. With one out, Sydney Reynolds stepped up to the plate for the Lady Pirates and delivered a hard lining single to advance Waldrep to third base. With runners at the corners, Erica Hopper hit a sacrifice fly to bring Waldrep home and give Pittsburg the early 1-0 lead. From then on, Pittsburg never looked back and continued to produce at the plate.
