Remembrances of a yesteryears Christmas

Last Thursday night reminded me of when I was a little girl waiting on Christmas. Every year about this time I would look forward to the tree lighting on the square in Mount Pleasant. The tree was very tall, silver with red lights. I still remember what it looked like; even though I felt it necessary to call a close friend to verify. It was a silver tree with large red lights. Silver trees were the ‘in thing’ during that time.
I remember it being colder then, than now, as we would drive around the square and I would beg for my mother to circle the square again and again where I could see the beauty of the tree. That time of year was so very exciting to me and thank goodness it is a feeling that I haven’t lost. These days, decorating becomes harder and harder and I have to seek a little help now, but I’m going to keep having the Christmas spirit until I can’t do it anymore or I don’t remember what it’s like. Apparently, I’m not the only one who feels that way.
Last Thursday night I had the opportunity to take pictures at the new Pilgrim Bank Christmas Tree lighting event. As I made my way to the plaza, I saw the excitement I had remembered as a child. Children were smiling with that twinkle in their eyes; it was a sight to behold.
