Pittsburg drills Kilgore in three game series

The Pirates aren’t done yet and with their win over Kilgore last Saturday, they were crowned Area champs. Brandon “Bam Bam” Colbert took the mound for Pittsburg and came up big for the Pirates after struggling early on. He helped Pittsburg rally for a 6-5 victory over Kilgore in Game 3 of the area round series Saturday afternoon at Driller Park. Colbert delivered a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning of Game 3 that tied the game. In the top of the seventh, with his team leading, Colbert pulled off an unassisted pickoff to thwart Kilgore’s final chance to keep the series alive.

Pittsburg won Game 1, 3-2, Friday in Pittsburg, and Kilgore took a 9-3 decision in Game 2 to begin the doubleheader on Saturday.
