Ali Wood wins title with Bearkats

Ali Wood, a Pittsburg resident, had the opportunity to help represent the Sam Houston State Bearkats All-Girl Cheer squad at Nationals in Dayton, Fla where the team won a National Championship.
Ms. Wood began her cheering and tumbling career at just four years old at Cheer-nastics under the tutelage of Mandy Hobbs. She continued to cheer throughout middle school and high school and also took more tumbling/cheering lessons in Mount Pleasant and Longview. After high school, Ms. Wood was accepted to Sam Houston State University where she tried out for and made the All-Girl cheering squad. This marked the first time in the school’s history that an All-Girl squad had won the national title.
When asked about the experience Ms. Wood said, “I encourage all girls to work hard and realize it does not end after high school, it truly has only begun. Follow your dreams of cheering, work hard, and it will pay off.”
