Annual Mother’s Day Tea is this Saturday

The Frederick Douglass Alumni Association, headquartered in Pittsburg will sponsor the Second Annual Mother’s Day Tea on the Saturday before Mother’s Day, May 10, at the Douglass Community Center. The event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Our honored mothers include grandmothers, stepmothers, and mothers at heart.  All the mothers will be treated to an afternoon tea honoring them and celebrating their commitment to their children and the love that families have for their mother. Our speaker this year is Diane Anderson Moore. Mrs. Moore is a graduate of Douglass High. She has now retired and lives in the Dallas metroplex. The fashion show held during the inaugural event was lots of fun for everyone and we invite all our models from 2013 to return in all their finery. Entertainment will also include young women who are gifted in dance. Everyone in the area is invited to attend. Be sure your Mother is included in this special celebration. Everyone is invited to register your mother and bring her to this event. All proceeds from the Tea will go to the building fund account of the Alumni Association. If your mother is no longer with you, you may sponsor her by submitting a 5 x 7 or 8 x 10 photograph of her for a special table display of “Memorable Mothers.” The East Texas area contact is Willie Carol Clay at 903-856-8482 or 903-856-5405.
