ETMC promotes physical health for National Fitness and Sports month

One of the most important things you can do for your health is to participate in regular physical activity.

The benefits are numerous. Here are just a few from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

•Weight control

•Reduces risk of cardiovascular disease

•Reduces risk for type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome

•Reduces risk for some types of cancer

•Strengthens bones and muscles

•Improves mental health and mood

•Improves ability to do daily activities and prevent falls

•Increases your chances of living longer

Good news is you don’t have to become a gym rat to experience these benefits. Participating in a moderate-intensity aerobic activity, like brisk walking, four to five days a week is all it takes to reap most of the benefits listed above.

While getting more active can be as easy as donning a pair of sneakers and hitting the sidewalk, if you want help in reaching your health and fitness goals, the ETMC Olympic Center at Pittsburg stands ready. The center is a medically integrated fitness and wellness facility. Our staff can help you develop a plan of action and meet your fitness goals.

In honor of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, the ETMC Olympic Center at Pittsburg is waiving the enrollment fee for those who join in the month of May. For more information, please call 903-946- 5466.
