“Special Catch” to be held on May 3
The sixteenth annual “Special Catch” fishing tournament will be held at Heritage Park Lake on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 10am until 1pm. This special event is organized to provide a “hands-on” fishing experience tailored to meet the needs of people of all ages with disabilities from Titus, Camp, Franklin, and Morris counties.
This free event provides those with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature while experiencing the exciting sport of fishing. This day is solely for the participants to enjoy, and in doing so everything is provided free of charge, from fishing equipment to food. In addition, every participant receives a t-shirt, trophy and photo of themselves with their catch to remember the day. Special Catch is sponsored in part by the City of Mt. Pleasant, but without the 50 plus other sponsors who help financially the event could not take place. Also, we could not effectively have this worthwhile event without the more than 100 volunteers that assist each year.
