Filing began Jan. 30 for three places on the Pittsburg Independent School District board of trustees. As of Monday, no one had filed to run for any of the places.
Jeff Antwine was elected to Place 4 last year; however, he moved out of the district, leaving a vacancy. This unexpired term ends in May 2015. Jerral Walker is up for re-election in Place 6. Dan Kincaid was appointed last year to fill the remainder of the late Sheryl Miller’s term in Place 7.
Two incumbents are up for re-election in the city in May as well. Mayor Shawn Kennington and Fred Cook, who holds Place 4 on the Pittsburg city council, filed to run for another term.
Filing for city council and school board continues until March 1. To sign up for a city position, stop by City Hall, 200 Rusk St. between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Filing for school board is conducted at the Central Administration Office, 402 Broach St. between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. On March 1, the office will be open until 5 p.m.
May 11 is Election Day. The city and school elections will be held at the cafetorium on Fulton Street.
