Pittsburg coach resigns after allegations of unprofessional conduct involving a student

Pittsburg superintendent Judy Pollan accepted the resignation of Colby Dickson, biology teacher and coach at Pittsburg High School, during the regular March meeting Monday night.
The action came after allegations were brought before superintendent Judy Pollan that Mr. Dickson had engaged in an unprofessional relationship with a female student at the high school. Mrs. Pollan said there was no indication that the relationship in question was of a sexual nature.
“For several weeks we had some anonymous calls and letters with an allegation that one of our coaches had some type of a relationship with a student,” Mrs. Pollan said. “We take all allegations like this seriously. If someone tells us that something is happening we are going to investigate it.”
According to Mrs. Pollan, the high school principal and the district police officer conducted an investigation to determine the validity of the allegation, which allegedly involved text messages between coach Dickson and the female minor.
