City, PISD school board accepting applications for upcoming elections

Candidate filing is now open in several local elections as positions are open on the Pittsburg City Council and the Pittsburg Independent Schools District (PISD) Board of Trustees.
Pittsburg ISD will be holding an election to fill Places one and two, which are currently held by Jack Arwine and Ricky Parker. Both have filed for re-election and have not yet drawn opponents.
The school began accepting applications for candidates Jan. 29 and will continue to do so until Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. Those wishing to run for the board may pick up application packets at the PISD offices Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
March 5 will be the last day for candidates to withdraw their names from the ballot.
Those wishing to cast their vote by mail can begin applying for a ballot by mail on March 11. Applications to vote by mail must be received by May 1.
April 10 is the last day people we be able to register to vote in the election.
Early voting in person will take place between April 28 and May 1.
Election day is May 10.
The Pittsburg City Council will be holding elections for two available city council spots in May.
