Warrick takes first in shot put, state meet next

COMMERCE – Bradlee Warrick will represent the Pittsburg Pirates at this year’s UIL Class 4A State Track and Field Championship May 11-13 at the University of Texas in Austin.
At last weekend’s Region 2 meet, Warrick won the shot put event with a throw of 51 feet and 5.75 inches. She also was 12th in the discus (126-0).
In the other field events for the boys, Kenontae Burns was sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 44-7.
In the running competition, the Pirates 4x200-meter relay team finished eighth with a time of 1:30.46.
Shaq Burton was 13 in the 100 at 11.15 and Jermaine Rogers took 15th in the 800 run.
In the girls’ division, Malaysia Burns placed ninth in the triple jump (35-2.75), while teammate Marlisha Swain was 16th overall at 32-5.25.
In the running events, Sadie Waldrep finished eighth in the 800 (2:32.12) and 12th in the 3,200 at 12:46.25. Emily Calderon was 13th in the 1,600 race at 6:10.31.
