Students honored with DECA Emerging Leaders Award

Pittsburg High School DECA students Shelby Roark, Landon Hobbs, Rachel Nelson and Jose Vazques were recently recognized for the Emerging Leader Honor Award.
The four members join 23 other members featured from Texas, with more than 400 DECA members being recognized nationwide.
This award recognizes DECA high school seniors studying marketing, finance, hospitality and management, while also being an academically prepared, community oriented, and professionally responsible, experienced leader through their participation in DECA.
To be recognized for this award, the DECA member must participate in various activities such as being an officer, completing community service project, and competing at a DECA conference (among other experiences) that fulfill different categories resulting in a well-rounded emerging leader.
This emerging leader must have completed a marketing, business management, entrepreneurship, finance or hospitality and tourism class and have a 3.2 cumulative GPA for the academic portion of the award. The requirements for this award also include approval from the member’s advisor, counselor, principal and parents.
