Highway 271 Showcase begins today here, Mount Pleasant

The Highway 271 Showcase baseball tournament get underway today, Thursday, March 9, at Pittsburg and Mount Pleasant.
Games are also planned for Friday and Saturday, March 10 and 11.
Pittsburg will host Nashville, Gladewater, Jacksonville and Arkansas High, while Mount Pleasant hosts Atlanta, Newman Smith, Liberty-Eylau and Brownsboro on Thursday and Friday.
Saturday’s games will be played to avoid possible district or playoff opponents.
All games will follow the NFHS rules and guidelines. All games will be played out to its entire completion, meaning no game will end in a tie. 
The 10-run rule after five innings is in effect. Teams will flip before each game for the home team.  The home team will keep the official book. 
Thursday’s game in Pittsburg includes Pittsburg vs. Jacksonville, 9 a.m.; Gladewater vs. Jacksonville, noon; Nashville vs. Gladewater, 3 p.m.; and Arkansas High vs. Nashville at 7 p.m.  
In Mount Pleasant, Liberty-Eylau vs. Mount Pleasant at 9 a.m.; Brownsboro vs. L-E, noon; Atlanta vs. Newman Smith at 3 p.m., followed by Mount Pleasant vs. Brownsboro at 7 p.m.
On Friday in Pittsburg, Gladewater vs. Arkansas High at 9 a.m.; Pittsburg plays Arkansas High at noon and Nashville at 3 p.m. Jacksonville plays Nashville at 7 p.m. 
In Mount Pleasant, Mount Pleasant takes on Atlanta at 9 a.m., Brownsboro faces Atlanta at noon and Newman Smith at 3 p.m. Liberty-Eylau plays Newman Smith at 7 p.m.
On Saturday in Mount Pleasant, Liberty-Eylau vs. Gladewater at 10 a.m., Mount Pleasant vs. Jacksonville at 1 p.m. and Arkansas High takes on Atlanta at 4 p.m. 
In Pittsburg, Nashville plays Brownsboro at 10 a.m., followed by Pittsburg and Newman Smith at 4 p.m.
