LadPirates go 5-1 in tourney action

The Pittsburg Lady Pirates played in the round-robin Spring Hill/Pine Tree Throwdown Tournament on March 2-4 in Longview. 
They finished 5-1 in tournament play.
Pittsburg opened up the tournament with a 13-3 win over Forney on March 2.
At the plate, Kaycee Parker led the Lady Pirates with two hits and three RBIs, Madison Busch hit two RBIs, Abby Hammonds drilled a home run over left-center to bring home two runs, while Sydney Waldrep and Madison Sansom had one RBI each.
Parker picked up the win in the circle. She struck out seven.
In their second game, the Lady Pirates posted a 7-3 win over Tatum.
Tori Henderson and Bailey Smith drove in a pair of RBIs each.
Parker, Busch and Sydney Reynolds each had a RBI.
Parker got her second win of the tournament as she fanned 12 batters.
On March 3, Pittsburg beat Chapel Hill, 4-1.
Bullock recorded two RBIs, while Smith and Henderson drove in on each.
In the circle, Henderson posted the win with three strikeouts.
Late in the day against Pine Tree, the Lady Pirates lost a close one, 1-0.
Parker led the Lady Pirates with two hits.
Smith suffered the loss in the circle She gave up two hits, including a walk-off home run – the only score in the game.
On Saturday, Pittsburg blanked New Diana, 10-0.
Sansom racked up four RBIs and Hammonds finished with three, while Bullock had two and Reynolds added one.
Smith struck out six batters in securing the win.
In their final game against Spring Hill, the Lady Pirates won 3-0.
Smith tossed a no-hitter and recorded 12 strikeouts.
Sansom led the Lady Pirates with a pair of RBIs and Bullock had one.
The Lady Pirates begin District 14-4A play Friday, March 17, when they host Atlanta at 6 p.m. This will be the Lady Pirates “Pink Out Night” to remember Breast Cancer Awareness. 
The junior varsity game starts at 4:30 p.m.
