Pittsburg school honored by State Board of Education

AUSTIN -- The Texas State Board of Education recently honored the 26 Texas schools that received the 2016 National Blue Ribbon Award in Arlington, Virginia, in November. 
The meeting was held in the State Board of Education board room in the William B. Travis Building in Austin on Feb. 3.
Representing Pittsburg Independent School District and Pittsburg Intermediate were PIS Principal Sarah Richmond, Lynn Burgess, Courtney Nugent, Brenda Lindley, Cindy Johnson and Betty Marshall.
Following several performances the resolution was read aloud by Ruben Cortez Jr., State Board of Education secretary, to honor Pittsburg Intermediate School as one of the 26 schools.
