Pittsburg boys get pair of soccer victories

The Pittsburg High Pirates improved to 2-0 in District 13 with a 2-0 win at home over Chapel Hill on Feb. 14.
The Pirate defense was led by Christian Martinez, who had 15 steals, along with Jason Rojas, Marcos Perez and Benjamin Espinosa with seven steals each. Eric Ponce, Brian Bello, and Kevin Ramirez had six each.
On Feb. 10, the Pirates crushed the Liberty-Eylau Panthers, 8-1, in district action as Luis Benitez, Ramirez and Ponce scored two goals each.
Gerardo Moreno and Marco Trejo each scored one goal in the win.  
Espinosa led the Pirates with seven steal, while Brian Barrios, Rojas and Perez recorded five apiece.
Pittsburg played at Atlanta on Feb. 21. 
No results were available at press time Tuesday.
The Pirates will host Pleasant Grove on Friday, Feb. 24, and then host Liberty-Eylau on Tuesday, Feb. 28.  
Varsity action starts at 6 p.m. for both games.
