Winners of Pittsburg Innovative Entrepreneur contest announced

Pittsburg Feed and Seed Brew Pub and Dance Hall and Sisters Reclaimed were recently named as the winners of the Pittsburg Innovative Entrepreneur contest. Pittsburg Feed and Seed Brew Pub and Dance Hall received a $20,000 incentive as the new business concept winner and Sisters Reclaimed received a $10,000 incentive as the existing business expansion winner. The winners had to submit an application for the contest, a business plan, seek guidance from the Northeast Texas Small Business Development Center and continue to do so, and go through a “shark tank” type of competition with an unbiased committee. The $20,000 winner will receive a $1,000 payment each month and the remaining $8,000 will be a reimbursement for any monies the business spends locally for supplies such as office furniture, refrigerators, coolers, and the like. “The $8,000 has to be spent locally because we want to put the money back into the community so that it benefits Pittsburg,” said Economic Development Coor-dinator Amanda McCellon. The $10,000 winner will receive a $1,000 payment each month until the amount is used; the money will be used to expand Sisters Reclaimed into a bigger building downtown. “We are very excited that through the PIE Contest we can continue to grow and expand Main Street and all of Pittsburg. We wish to congratulate the 2016 winners and can’t wait to see all the applicants for 2017,” said McCellon. Applications for the next Pittsburg Innovative Entre-preneur contest are now being accepted. To apply, visit Pittsburg City Hall or call 903-856-3621.
