Dear Editor: The class of 1976 celebrated its 40th class reunion on Sept. 9 and 10. Before heading off to the homecoming game Friday night, my husband and I hosted a wine and dessert event at “The Historic Holman House” for the class of 1976. Classmates were encouraged to tour the many rooms of the home. In each room, many photos of classmates from the past adorned the furniture. This was a hit with the class. A class photo was taken under a special banner on the front porch of “The Historic Holman House”. The banner was made exclusively for the class of 1976. After this event ended, everyone headed to Pirate Stadium to sit together as a class. The fun and surprises were just the beginning. During halftime of Friday’s homecoming game, Jim Bob Smith and Robert Peoples presented Jimmy Watson a bronze plaque from the class of 1976, to commemorate his long service as an educator. The plaque will be permanently displayed outside the door of Mr. Watson’s classroom, where he taught from 1970-2008. On Saturday night, everyone gathered for “The Big Party” at “Our Place” in downtown Pittsburg. Robert was the master of ceremonies for the event, welcoming everyone and introducing a few speakers.
