Camp and Upshur Counties host domestic violence prevention training

Crime stoppers of Camp and Upshur Counties and District Attorney Billy Byrd of Upshur County are sponsoring a free seminar and training at the Gilmer Civic Center July 29, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The training will be open to all law enforcement ocers (LEOs), correctional o cers, juvenile and adult probation officers, prosecutors, defense attorneys, school teachers, school administrators and any interested person of the general public. Law enforcement officers will receive 6 hours credit for continuing education by attending this seminar and training. A running total of attendees so far is approximately 150 LEOs have signed up. Family violence is a growing problem in Texas. The jail log section of The Gazette averages at least one arrest for family violence per week in Camp County, often with bodily injuries. The course will be taught by ecia Jenkins, with Bold Profession Seminars and Consulting. Her background includes over twenty-five years of experience in the areas of social services, leadership, training and speaking.
