The Pittsburg Elite Track Club is in its third year. The club was founded by Coach Troy Lafayette in the summer of 2014. The team will be competing in the upcoming Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) Regional meet on July 16 in the Longview Pine Tree Stadium. The top three qualifiers will then advance to the State meet in McAllen, July 2831. The team has put in hard work and dedication throughout the summer with kids traveling from Daingerfield, Mount Pleasant, Gilmer and even Longview five days a week to practice and attending meets not only in East Texas but several meets in the Dallas area as well. The team has grown from only 8 girls in 2014, to over 45 children this year. Currently the kids are putting in hard work trying to raise money for a charter bus so that the kids will have transportation getting to McAllen which is an 11 hour drive. With little support we are still growing each year.
