Thanks for the memories
By ELLIS KNOX reporter@campcountynow.com Pirate and Lady Pirate sports on the whole for this school year was extremely memorable. To be honest until I began working for The Pittsburg Gazette, I did not really pay much attention to Pirate Sports. I went to several football games with my granddaughters, but with bad luck (I guess) they lost to every game I attended. However, last summer when I began at The Pittsburg Gazette, there was a new coaching staff. Beginning with football, a new offensive and defensive system, but the key to that glorious 10 and 2 season was the buy-in-by the team members to trust this new staff. “The boys listened to us and individually decided to believe and buy-in. It would not have worked if it had not begun with each team member to be part of the team,” Head Coach Brad Baca said. That trust paid dividends that could not be imagined the year before. Watching from the sidelines at that first scrimmage, I was worried by the confused looks and missed assignments but the second scrimmage was much better.
