Texas Lawman: Frank Augustus Hamer,Texas Ranger, Part 2

During his career as a lawman, Frank Augustus Hamer was involved in at least 50 gun fights. Tall and range tough his no-nonsense demeanor earned Hamer a reputation among the bad men of the day as a lawman to avoid. Many who knew him said he was the epitome of, “one riot, one Ranger.” He once broke up a potential riot and gang fight by walking up to one group and saying, “Git!” They went. He turned to the other group and said, “Back off!” And they did. He became a Texas Ranger in Apr. 1906, he was assigned to Captain J. H. Rogers’ Company C, patrolling the border in south Texas.
