Pittsburg ISD Top 10 Graduates

Karla Jessyca Osornio Valedictorian 4.8112 GPA

Karla Jessyca Osornio will deliver the valedictorian speech for the Pittsburg High School Commencement Ceremonies on Friday night. She is the daughter of Luisa Osornio and Carlos Osornio. Karla boasted a 4.8112 grade point average along with the following accomplishments in PHS: “A” honor roll all four years; perfect attendance four years; Adobe Certi ed Associate; district rst place winner 2015-2016 in Skills USA Web Design; 2015-2016 Rotary Youth Leadership Award participant. Extracurricular activities included: three years band; UIL Science and Number Sense; President of Skills USA Web Design; Student Council Vice-President four years; Rotary Interact Club President and secretary of the National Honor Society. Karla plans on attending e University of Texas at Austin where she will major in computer science. She is a Hutchison Scholar, Tip Scholar and in the University of Leadership Network. She plans to become a so ware engineer and work for Intel or Google.

Summer Camille Pylant Salutatorian 4.7704

Pittsburg High School’s salutatorian is Summer Camille Pylant, daughter of Autum Plylant and grandparents, Carla and Robert Peoples. Summer’s accomplishments during high school include: President of the National Honor Society; National Society of High School Scholars; Phi Kappa eta Honor Society; United States Achievement Academy National Social Studies award winner; Academic All-State Volleyball, and Academic All-District Volleyball; second place UIL social studies. Other awards include English IPAP, Biology PAP, Spanish II Cultural Linguistics, Medical Microbiology, Medical Terminology, AP Chemistry; “A” honor roll, Winner of the Pittsburg Police Art Contest (drawing for the new Pittsburg Police Department.) Extracurricular activities are: varsity cheerleader (11-12), volleyball (9-12), basket ball and track ninth grade, so ball (9-11), high school tutor, Junior Miss Peach Queen (Camp County), Supreme Peach Queen, rst runner up- Miss Teen of Texas Scholarship andRecognition Pageant andMiss Teen Camp County United States. She was a tour guide for Historic Downtown Pittsburg Walking Tour, Tour Guide and Caretaker of the Historic Holman House Bed and Breakfast. Summer has been accepted and will attend e University of Texas at Austin this fall. She is majoring inMiddle Eastern Languages and Cultures. “I would like to one day be a linguist of translator for the United Nations. I speak English, Portuguese, Turkish, French and German and I am currently learning Spanish. I hope to use my love of foreign languages as a rewarding career opportunity.”
