Robert Wayne “Blackjack” Marshall of Pittsburg passed away Wednesday, May 4 at the age of 72 surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with cancer. He was born March 6, 1944 in Pittsburg to Robert Weldon Marshall and Edna Muriel Marshall. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Seven Points, Texas. When he began his fight with cancer he returned to Pittsburg to be close to family. Although he was unable to attend, he met frequently with his friend and local pastor, Rockie Simpler who is connected with the Circle C Cowboy Church in Mt Pleasant. Robert is survived by his daughter, Jackie McCandless and husband Alan; son, Trae Marshall; two grandchildren, Caleb Marshall and Hannah Marshall; brother, Rodney Marshall and wife Judy Ann; great-niece, Amanda Gunn; as well as several other nieces a nephews and several other great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert Weldon Marshall and Edna Muriel Marshall; sister: Judy Gail French and ex wife: Barbara Marshall. A memorial service will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 28 at the Circle C Cowboy Church, located at 1757 FM 3417 in Mount Pleasant. This is the FM road opposite the airport off 271. There will be food and drinks to enjoy while remembering and celebrating the life of Robert Wayne “Blackjack” Marshall. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity, The American Cancer Society or the Circle C Cowboy Church, which is growing and is committed to fellowship and was a strong presence in Robert’s life. When he couldn’t go to fellowship, they brought fellowship to him faithfully.
