Services for Hubert Pilgrim, 90, were heldWednesday, March 9 at Erman Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Melissa Crawford officiating. He was born Oct. 11, 1925 in Titus County. He died Saturday, March 5, at his home in Pittsburg. Mr. Pilgrim served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and married Edith Harris on March 20, 1949. The couple was married over 66 years. He ran a successful floor refinishing business in Pittsburg for 55 years. He spent his time ranching after his retirement and was a member of the Reeve’s Chapel Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife Edith Harris Pilgrim; one daughter, Reba Montgomery and husband Ronald; two grandchildren, Toby Montgomery and Kevin Montgomery; two sisters, Christell Newman and Bertha Capps; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Pilgrim and Pearl Storey Sargent; son, Harry Pilgrim; and one brother Aubrey Bassett Pilgrim. Pallbearers were Ben Warrick, John Warrick, Larry Warrick, Zane Ables, Elvie Carpenter, Doug Lyle, and Horace Reeves. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Taft, Tommy Ellison, Dan Anderson and Max Rhea.
