Boyd

Christine Hill Boyd was born April 5, 1919 in Dallas. She graduated from Adamson High School and later St. Paul Nursing School as a Registered Nurse in 1943. She married Thomas Boyd of Grand Prairie in August of 1944; they later settled in Grand Prairie. Her nursing career began by working for Dr. William Colip, MD from 1952 to 1961 in Grand Prairie. The family moved to Wichita Falls in 1961 where Christine worked for the Wichita Clinic. Returning to Dallas in 1968, she was supervisor of the orthopedics department at Baylor Hospital until she retired in 1981. Christine and Tom moved to Hills Point in Pittsburg, which was once her brother’s farm. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Friendship Class in Pittsburg. Christine had a calling to use her nursing skills, so in her 80’s she went on medical missionary trips to Central America and the Philippines. In 2003, she was presented the Good Samaritan Award by the Camp County Texas Cooperative Extension. Christine is survived by her son, Steven T. Boyd, his wife Mary, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Particular gratitude goes to her neighbors for their support. A memorial service will be held December 10, at 10 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Pittsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse International Relief, First Baptist Church, or a charity of your choice.
