Chief Penn gave new gun law seminar

Twelve business owners participated in a seminar Tuesday, Nov. 17, held by Police Chief Richard Penn on the changes in the gun law that goes into e ect on Jan. 1, 2016. “We do not want to express an opinion, we want to put it out there for you as a business owner to decide what you want to do,” Chief Penn said. “Come Jan.1, you must have the signage up or on Jan.2 someone may come in your store open carrying,” Chief Penn said. Penn made no recommendations except to say that if a business wants to put up any of the new signage to get it commercially done, the law is very strict about size of the letters, colors of background and letters. He was aware of several printers in town able to print the signs. Chief Penn explained the wording and the details of the signage to the group. e wording of the signs must conform exactly to the wording prescribed in the law. Each sign must be in English and Spanish.
