• William Julian Jr. is chosen to receive the Jake Simmons Award. Mr. Julian was an Army Veteran of World War II.
• Katie Smith competes in the state cross country meet in Round Rock and finishes 34 out of 105 in her division.
• Pittsburg Pirate football season ends with a 35-14 loss at Longview Lobo Stadium.
• Golf tourney, to benefit Susan Hicks Motes, was held at Princedale Country Club. The memorial tournament raised $2,500.
• Winners of the Karley’s Halloween Contest, 0-4 age group were: Savanna Cowan, first place; Siri Collins, second place; and Hunter Moody, third place.
20 years
• Bo Pilgrim receives the Russell H. Perry Free Enterprise Award from Texas Governor George W. Bush.
• Wesley Dorsett and Matt Taylor will play in the Baseball of Texas State Ball Tournament.
30 years
• Eighth grade Pirates end season with a perfect record. Taboris Porter leads scoring 87 points.
• A dedication service is scheduled at Fellowship Baptist Church.
40 years
• Pirates and Tigers share limelight of Friday night homecoming activities.
50 years
• Pilgrim Feed Mills farm south of Pittsburg fed 600,000 pounds of feed to turkeys.
60 years
• Twenty-nine students are inducted to the Pittsburg High School chapter of the National Honor Society.
70 years
• Pittsburg observes Armistice Day.
