City to change Loop 238 to Business 271

The City of Pittsburg will join the Pittsburg Independent School District in the cost of a Thor Guard Lightening Prediction and Warning System for Fair andMoore Parks after the regular meeting Monday, Nov. 9. “This is what we’ve already talked about,” Mayor Shawn Kennington said. “We are entering in with the school in trying to install a lightening warning system at the splash pad (at Fair Park) and at Moore Park where people congregate.” Mayor Kennington told the council he had visited Paris to check out their warning system, which will be the same.TheMayor said people were not under the impression city officials were running a test on the system while he was there and when the horns went off, people started vacating the area. After much discussion on the subject, the vote was unanimous to include Moore Park along with the decision already made to place the system at Fair Park.
