One Man's Opinion

Things that go wrong in the night
The other morning about 3:00a.m., Debbie awakes and announces she heard the cat scream. She is up and out of bed, while I am thinking the only thing I want to hear the cat scream is “I`m running away from home and never coming back.” I heard her open the door to where the dogs sleep at night, but by the time I make into the kitchen she is there holding her nose with one hand and holding a couple of paper towels with the other. She was gagging and pointing and trying to talk. I went into the kitchen and picked up a roll of paper towels and spray cleaner. I opened the outside door and made all three dogs go outside. I cleaned up the smelly mess (Debbie was still gagging) while the dogs were outside. Debbie managed to pass through the dog`s room and stand on the deck (in the fresh air) and spend quality time with the dogs. I rearranged the dog beds and I was ready for everyone to come inside and go back to bed. The two older dogs came in and laid down, but the youngest one (Debbie`s dog) just stood outside and stared at her. Debbie coaxed, pleaded, and finally commanded the dog come inside. Meantime, the cat would run past so I could see through the door. I kept thinking why couldn`t we have a mountain lion or a freakishly big eagle come by snatch the cat away.
