Donald G. “Donnie Anderson, 86, was born Oct. 6, 1928, in Cox City, Okla. and passed away July 3, 2015, in Mount Pleasant, Texas.

Mr. Anderson was a retired auto mechanic and cattle rancher. He loved fishing, hunting, drinking coffee with friends, cutting firewood and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Raymond and Bernice (Vaught) Anderson; brothers, Loyd and James Anderson; sister, Lula Faye Shurbet and step-grandson, Rod Russell.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Glenna Taylor Anderson of Mount Pleasant; daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Leon Newman of Cookville; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Judy Anderson of Commerce; daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Dennis Hood of Leesburg; son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Jamie Anderson of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren, Stacy and Thomas Ratliff, Lance Newman, Jeff and Ashley Anderson, Jennifer and Jacob Hunter, Ty and Lara Hood, Carmen and Justin Dowdy and Jarod Anderson; step-granddaughter Cari Nance; great-grandchildren, Sara and Taylor Ratliff, Layton and Sydney Newman, Grand and McKenna Hood, Tripp Anderson, Bristol and Leah Dowdy; step-great-granddaughter Kailee Dowdy; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Margie Anderson; sister, Pauline Slovak; sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Joe Wilhite; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Billie Taylor, Marvin and Margaret Taylor, Jim and Eunice Taylor, Jerry and Beverly Taylor and Royce Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, July 5, at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home. Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Chapel with interment in Coopers Chapel Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

Pallbearers were Lance Newman, Jeff Anderson, Thomas Ratliff, Jacob Hunter, Ty Hood, Jarod Anderson and Justin Dowdy.
