Kennington

Clovis Kennington, 92, of Kingwood, died April 21, in Humble. Mr. Kennington was born on Feb. 8, 1923 in Grice. His memorial service was held Saturday, April 25, at 11 a.m., at Pine Tree Church of Christ in Longivew, followed by a graveside service. Interment was held at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer.

Mr. Kennington married, Jo Ann Maxwell, on April 16, 1949, and together they raised two children, Keith and Karen. He served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He worked as a manager for Bealls, and was a member of Pine Tree Church of Christ while living in Longview and Kingwood Church of Christ while living in Kingwood. His love of God was evident by his life and service as an elder of South Park Church of Christ in Beaumont and his work with the Caring and Sharing ministry of Pine Tree Church of Christ in Longview.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Kennington of Kingwood; son, Clovis Keith Kennington and wife Sarah of San Antonio; daughter, Karen Kennington Power and husband Tim of Kingwood; sister, Onella Martin of Baytown; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Mr. Kennington was preceded in death by his parents: Algi Cumi and Julia Thornton Kennington, and his brother, Kermit Kennington.
