Lady Pirates win 2-1 against Liberty Eylau

A walk-off solo blast from Bailey Smith brought home the winning run for the Lady Pirates as they defeated Liberty Eylau, 2-1, in extra innings last Thursday. The victory gave Pittsburg their first district win.
Smith and Kaycee Parker made up the pitching duo on the night. Smith pitched six innings, recorded 13 strikeouts, and gave up four hits. Parker put in five innings of work, rung up 11 batters, and gave up just two hits. Both teams battled back and forth until the bottom of the third inning when the Lady Pirates came to the plate. With one out, Parker stepped into the batter’s box and was hit by a pitch, allowing her to advance to first base freely.
