Lady Pirates fall to North Lamar and Pleasant Grove

The Lady Pirates softball squad lost a couple of tough games last week to district rivals, North Lamar and Pleasant Grove. Pittsburg fell to North Lamar in a close matchup, 3-1 and lost to Pleasant Grove 4-1. In the North Lamar game, Kaycee Parker got things off on the right track for the Lady Pirates by putting the ball in play and reaching first base on a single. Parker then stole second on a ball and then advanced to third on a groundout by Morgan McCellon. Brilie Cummings came to the plate and popped out in foul territory to the Lady Panther third basemen for the second out. With Parker still threatning on third, the inning was ended when Mackenzie Blackstock struck out looking to end the Lady Pirate scoring threat. North Lamar would strike first on a hard triple to centerfield, which put the Lady Panthers in scoring position.
