The PISD school board voted 7-0 to accept a recommendation made by Superintendent, Judy Pollan, to hire Brad Baca as Athletic Director/Head Football Coach. Baca will be replacing Dickey Meeks, who announced his retirement earlier this month.
Baca comes to PISD from Chapel Hill-Tyler, where he was most recently the offensive coordinator/quarterback’s coach and an assistant soccer coach. Chapel Hill-Tyler’s offense was ranked second in total offense after 10 games in 3A in the East Texas area; averaged over 41 points per game and averaged nearly 500 total yards per game in 2013. Baca was also on Chapel Hill-Tyler’s staff when they won a state championship in 2011 as a wide receivers coach. Before coming to Chapel Hill-Tyler, Baca was a quarterbacks coach at Brownsboro ISD. Baca attained his bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. While at Sam Houston State, Baca was a two-year letterman at running back and helped guide the team to a conference championship, and a national semi-finalist ranking in 2004.
“I want to publicly thank our board for trusting us in going after the best person out there.
