Pirates blank North Lamar Panthers 36-0

The Pirates picked up their first district win last Friday night by completely dismantling the North Lamar Panthers, 36-0.
The Panthers tried to be tricky out of the gate with what appeared to be an onside kick. The Pirates would recover the attempt and take over on the 42 yard line. Pittsburg dug into their playbook and got creative and called a screen to Sir Charles Perkins, a jet sweep by Dejour Dowell, and an end around by Perkins to set the Piratesup in scoring position. The Pirates finished in the endzone with a touchdown from Perkins who ran the ball to the right side of the line and crossed the goal line. With the extra point, the score was 7-0 Pirates with 10:08 to go in the first quarter.
After the kickoff, North Lamar would take the reign at the 31 yard line and immediately see what kind of night they were in for when Alex Carlock got into the backfield and leveled the Panther ball carrier. On their first possession, North Lamar would trade back and forth for a bit with the Pirate defense, but soon found themselves in trouble in a third-and-five situation. At the snap, North Lamar attempted a hand off, but the ball carrier was brought down in the backfield by the tenacious Pirate defense and was forced to punt. The Pirates would take possession backed up deep in their own territory after a friendly roll on the Panther punt. Pittsburg’s drive would stall out and they would reciprocate the earlier North Lamar punt with one of their own.
