Mount Vernon finished 5-5 last year, and they are currently at 0-4 on the year and lost to Malakoff last week 40-6. Head Coach, Matt Alexander, is in his fourth year leading the Tigers and has a 14-16 record at Mount Vernon.

Alexander said his team may lack experience, but he is looking for their speed and athleticism to make the difference. The Tigers are also in one of the tougher districts in 3A with New Boston, Daingerfield, and Winnsboro, among the elite of the 7-3A district.
