Thomas Michael Porter, 53, of Iowa Park went to be with his Savior on Aug. 20. Visitation was held at Lakeview Church of God from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 24. A celebration of his life was held Monday, Aug. 25, at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeview Church of God.
Tommy was the pastor at Lakeview Church of God and was a member of the Ministerial Alliance in Iowa Park. Tommy was born Dec. 30, 1960 in Dallas. His parents were Billy and Sue Porter. He lived in Plano, until his parents moved to Winnsboro, where he eventually met and married his wife, Sherrie, on March 10, 1984. 
In 1991, at the age of 31, Tommy surrendered his heart and life to serving the Lord. In 1999 he accepted his first pastorate at the Pittsburg Church of God, where he served for 14 years prior to moving to Iowa Park. Surviving family members include his wife, Sherrie, daughters, Sarah and Hope Porter, son, Michael and wife, Stormy, grandchildren, Jacob and Julie, all of Iowa Park; mother, Sue Porter, sisters, Lori Nuss and husband, Russ, and Rebecca Porter of Winnsboro. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Porter.
Tommy loved to play golf with his wife, Sherrie, spending time with his children and grandchildren, ministering to and being ministered to by, the saints at Lakeview. Anyone who knew Tommy knew that he had passion for the Lord and sharing the Word of God with those around him.
