Services for Frances Brooks, 76, were held on July 27 at Gilmer Church of Christ. Mrs. Brooks was born on Jan. 20, 1938 in Red River County,

Michael (Mike) Patrick French of Mount Pleasant, 67, passed away Friday, July 25, in Mount Vernon. He was born May 24, 1947 in Pittsburg. He was the son of Harrison Morton and Vivian Earl (Dickson) French.

Mr. French was of the Methodist faith and a self employed Master Plumber. He served his country during Vietnam in the United States Army.

He leaves his wife of 48 years, Florence Newman French of Mount Pleasant; son, James French of Longview; daughters, Patricia and her husband Kenneth Attaway of Pittsburg, and  Alicia and her husband Chris Jones of Mount Pleasant; brothers, H.M. “Sonny” and his wife Leona French of New Boston, Wayne and his wife Barbara French of Hooks, and Jerome French of Pittsburg; sisters, Vicki Sullivan of Mount Pleasant, and Kathleen French of Flatonia; brothers-in-law, Leroy and his wife Carol Newman of Center, James and his wife Susan of Mount Pleasant, and Junior Newman of New Braunsfels; sistersin- law, Bonnie Leroy of Mount Pleasant, Carolyn Newman of Gladewater, Marlene Morris, and Marie Scott both of Odessa; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in deathby his parents; sister, Teresa Perren; brothers, Billy Gene and William Henry “Hank” French;

father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Imer D. Newman. He also leaves behind eightgrandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 29, at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Chapel and interment services were held at theEast New Hope Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

Services for Roosevelt Kelly Jr. were held Saturday, July 26 at Rocky Mound C.M.E. Church with the Rev. Terry Moton officiating. Interment was in Rocky Mound Cemetery. He was born Dec. 4, 1952 in Mount Pleasant. He died July 19.
