Submitted by Pittsburg1 on

The Fourth of July is about our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and that’s what this year’s celebration will be about, as it has always been. Pittsburg will host its annual Independence Day Blast on Friday, July 4.
Bring your family and friends and celebrate our freedoms in beautiful historic Pittsburg. Come out to the Pittsburg Pirate Football Stadium to enjoy Pittsburg’s 30-minute firework presentation along with Parachute Bingo.
Five skydivers from East Texas Skydive will show their patriotism while skydiving with the American Flag. This is the only Firework Independence Blast on Friday July 4th in the East Texas area, and is a family event you will not want to miss.
Tailgating and seating areas will be available around the stadium as well as the stands of the Pittsburg High School Football Stadium. Concessions will be available during the event and there will be plenty of room to enjoy family, friends, and food while you are captivated by the ongoing fireworks.
Events begin with Parachute Bingo starting at 8:45 p.m. (dusk). Patrons can purchase a chance to win $1,000. Tickets are $5 or $20 for five tickets. The winner will be determined by a skydiver landing on the winning square.
The City of Pittsburg Fireworks Show begins at dark immediately after Parachute Bingo.
The city expects several thousand people from area wide communities. Each year, the event draws a larger crowd and has become an anticipated event for many.
The city asks that everyone bring their lawn chairs, as this will provide the best viewing pleasure for the fireworks. The surrounding parking lots and other surrounding venues will be available for tailgating and viewing the fireworks.
Bingo tickets will be on sale during the day of the event until 8:00 P.M. and there will be city staff selling the tickets from golf carts and tables.
