Dylan Caldwell, son of Chris and Tamara Caldwell, and grandson of Earnest and Sarah Richmond of Pittsburg has been selected to travel to the Dallas/Fort Worth area as a participant in Education in Action’s Lone Star Leadership Academy. Dylan’s selection for the Academy was based on his outstanding academic success at Waterford Oaks Elementary School, demonstrated leadership ability, a nomination from his teacher, and his involvement in school and community activities.

Joining a delegation of students from across the state, Dylan will develop leadership skills while learning about the great state of Texas and its leaders. He will learn about future career and internship opportunities and visit significant Texas sites such as the: U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Amon Carter Museum, Texas Civil War Museum, and the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealy Plaza among others.

Nominees must have an overall grade average of 85 or higher and show leadership potential in the classroom. Dylan will attend the Keller camp this year, the Austin camp next year, and the Houston camp for the final year. The camps will teach leadership development skills, self-confidence, independence, and social skills. Upon successful completion of the program, Dylan will be invited to serve on the Lone Star Youth Leadership Council.
