Pirates blast Atlanta Rabbits 6-2

Trace Burns went 2-3 as the Pirates took home a 6-2 victory over the Atlanta Rabbits in seven innings last Friday. He also doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the sixth inning.
 
Brandon Colbert got the win for the Pirates thanks to 14 strikeouts. Colbert allowed one earned run, five hits and four walks over seven innings.
 
B.J. Hammonds ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
 
The Pirates never trailed after scoring two runs in the second on a two-run error.
 
The Pirates pushed across one run in both Pirates Bi-District Champs the third inning and the sixth. In the third, the Pirates scored on an RBI single by Garrett Truitt, plating Brandon Colbert.
 
The Pirates increased their lead with two runs in the fourth. A ground out, scored Cody Perry to get the Pirates on the board in the inning. That was followed up by Garrett Truitt’s single, bringing home Trace Burns.
 
After pushing across one run in the top of the fifth, Atlanta faced a 5-1 deficit. An RBI single by Clayton Hancock fueled Atlanta’s attempt at a comeback. The Atlanta threat came to an end when Brandon Colbert finally got Logan Vise to strike out.
 
One run in the top of the sixth helped Atlanta close its deficit to 5-2. The Pirates stopped the rally after Brandon Colbert got Colton Dotson to strike out.
