A not so ‘Sterling’ reputation

Sports and social issues, they’re two completely different subjects, yet they always seem to find a way to clash with one another. This week proved to be one of those times when the issues squared up with each other. 
Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling was caught on tape expressing racist sentiments to his girlfriend V. Stiviano. We have certainly come a long way as a society regarding social issues such as racism, but we still have a long way to go. With a vast majority of National Basketball Association (NBA) players being African-American, it is beyond my level of comprehension as to why Donald Sterling thought he could make these comments and get away with it.
