A controversial Marvin Nichols Reservoir is back on the table for discussion in the water planning for Region C and Region D, according to Walt Sears, general manager of Northeast Texas Municipal Water District.
“Marvin Nichols is being discussed in Region C, which is the urban center to our west,” Mr. Sears said. “They need more water than they currently have access to, so it is necessary over the next fifty years to increase their supply to meet increase and demand. As Region C identifies the volumes of water that they need, they have also identified possible strategies. Those strategies include conservation, reuse, taking from existing reservoirs and contemplating building new ones. Marvin Nichols is one of those strategies that Region C has identified that they want to pursue over the next 50 years.”
